Reverb Motorcycles' Lucille 20 April 15
“With Lucille, I set out to turn a mediocre but sound CB750 into an extraordinary motorcycle – to take 1977 back to 1959, and then forward again to 2014.” says Mark Alder of Reverb Motorcycles "Aesthetically I wanted Lucille to imitate the café racers of the late 50s, so I commissioned a replica aluminium ‘wideline’ Manx tank. The seat mimics the Honda RC162 racer of that period, kicked-up at the rear to accommodate a custom frame hoop and finished in faux alligator skin".
Gauges are new replica Honda whilst a simple Moto Gadget item set into a custom aluminium plate replaces the original pilot lights. The top yoke has been modified to remove the original bar clamps and steering is now via fully adjustable Tarozzi clip-ons.
The motor and carburetors were stripped, cleaned, honed, skimmed, polished, painted and rebuilt to manufacturers’ specifications. We added electronic ignition, a 4into2 exhaust, re-jetted the carbs to complement the K&Ns and installed a gauge to accurately display oil pressure.
The fully refurbished front suspension features Hagon progressive fork springs with pre-load adjustable top-nuts whilst the stanchions have been hard chromed. Rear suspension is again by Hagon and uses their 33501SAB road shocks finished in black and linked to a fully refurbished swing-arm. The original hubs were laced to flanged aluminium rims via stainless steel spokes and she now wears Avon ‘Road Rider’ rubber.
The rear sets are modified Tarozzi items fitted to custom hangers. After refurbishing the front and rear brakes, they were drilled to improve efficiency whilst the rear brake light is now switched by an inductive proximity sensor built into the right hand footrest hanger.
