Maria Riding, Julijana 24 October 15
Julijana is a 2004 Bonneville. This custom scrambler built by Maria Riding was a project for a client, that was inspired by another build of theirs called “Juliette”. Their client wanted a dirt version of this Bonnie, but well dressed with all the best parts and with an extreme look.
The bike was built from a 2004 Bonneville, but it was a like new bike. Mechanically it was very nice, apart from the normal oxidation and some rusty parts. They dismantled almost everything on this bike. First they recovered all the parts that needed attention, the rear was shortened, and next a lot of top of the range equipment was fitted. On the front, they install a new brake system, with front disc and new brake caliper from Pretech with 6 pistons. The front suspension had an upgrade from Ohlins. New handlebar, handlebar supports, brake and clutch levers from Magura, and all switches incorporated on the handlebar for a more simple look. To finish the front look they install a beautiful Motogadget to give all the info needed to the rider. The front light is from a Harley sportster headlight, painted to match the color scheme with a protector grid fitted. The exhaust is a Zard as it was decided to fit small one and keep it low. different from the high mounted exhausts usually used on Scramblers. The sound is amazing!
They retuned the carbs, installed new airboxes, with air filters from K&N, new custom battery box, lithium battery, with all the original cables kept but and hidden as much as possible. On the back, new Ohlins suspension was added, a new transmission set from Renthal, aluminium rear fender, with a nice backlight. Also installed were the black footpegs from Joker, aluminium turn signals, aluminium gas tank cover, and the custom black seat. The tires are Continental TKC 80.
The paintwork was an important aspect of this project. From the engine covers to the valve and carbs covers, rims, hubs, headlights, tank, was all chosen from the beginning to have a unique, aggressive and radical look. The final detail of the bike was highlighted with the Julijana name written on the top of the tank.
